Objective
To make a dust cover for an existing book and to make a new cover so that they could bringing new readers.
Process
The book was Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. The book is incredibly dark and horrific, possibly one of the darkest books have read. There are so many moments in the book that just make you feel disgusted and uncomfortable and I knew the only way I could represent that is to keep it as minimal as possible. Because if you show any scenario or moment that happens in the book, that gives the reader something to expect. With a minimal design you don’t know what to expect, it gives a sense of curiosity about what’s behind the pages. I only used a black background and harsh red lettering to symbolize the dark themes of the story and the violence of it all.
